Author Biography

Rolf-Dieter Kempis is a Director in the Dusseldorf office of McKinsey and Company, Inc. He has worked primarily in automotive, steel, chemicals, and machinery industry consulting, focusing on issues of logistics, cost reduction, sales stimulation, and organization. Jurgen Ringbeck, elected principal of McKinsey in 1993, joined McKinsey in 1988 and served several European clients, primarily in the transportation/logistics and manufacturing industries. Mr. Ringbeck is one of the leaders of McKinsey's growth strategy practice.
