Summary

Niambi Cook may've taken her assignment to tutor Campion Greer far better had she not witnessed his uncle attacking a dancer in the alley behind her aunt's club. Camp was trying to deal with the fact that once again his father's efforts to give him life's necessary advantages made him look like a spoiled rich brat in the eyes of his lovely new tutor. Niambi wasn't overly surprised to see the son of her mother's boss sitting in the front room of her AP English class. In her opinion the Greer's got what they wanted, when the wanted and how they wanted it. Clearly, it was the case for Camp's uncle. Malcolm Greer's well-known bad boy image was only overlooked because his family owned a third of Raleigh, NC. As far as Niambi was concerned he was lower than a slug. The attack she'd witnessed solidified that fact a thousand times. Moreover, her opinion of Malcolm wasn't a far cry from the one she held of his nephew. Still, no one could deny Camp's appeal. In spite of all he had, he was well-liked. His long list of friends forgot the boy's family employed almost half the people in town. Of course, Camp wasn't just popular because of his social skills. Looks ran deep and gorgeous in the Greer family. Camp had lost out on none of those benefits. The caramel skin, dark eyes, soft hair and athletic build drew the girls in droves. Niambi however was no fool for looks. The youngest in a family of beautiful women, Niambi had seen that beauty cast nothing but shame, doubt and pain on the lives of her mother and aunts. The fact that tarnished reputations were the norm in her family was something Niambi worked daily to overcome. She could pretty much guess what Camp Greer's expectations were. But for a boy who had only to look twice at a girl and have her ready to follow him anywhere, Camp found that there was something more to his interest in a girl who wanted nothing to do with him.
