Summary

The world is suffering from a global vitamin B-3 deficiency and dependency pandemic, which is perhaps more devastating than the scurvy pandemic that preceded the discovery of the benefits of eating foods containing vitamin C. Linus Pauling, in his fundamental study of "orthomolecular" nutrition in his celebrated book Vitamin C and the Common Cold, showed how the human body lost its ability during evolution to make certain nutrients, including vitamin C.
