Author Biography

Mary-Joan Gerson grew up on the ethnically diverse Lower East Side of New York City, attended Cornell University, and later earned her doctorate in clinical psychology from New York University, where she now directs family therapy training. Her first experience in children's literature occurred in the Peace Corps in Nigeria, where she developed a program to bring African literature to Nigerian children Maya Christina Gonzalez is an award-winning illustrator and graphic artist
