The best things to do and see for all the family - visited, reviewed and assessed for child-friendliness by our expert writers. Dozens of the most family friendly hotels and restaurants carefully selected, visited and reviewed - we did the leg work so you don't need to. Discover a majestic set of islands through rugged mountains, cobalt blue seas and picturesque fishing boats. Share the Greeks passion for life - their thought, argument, politics, honour, philosophy and, above all, family. Be overawed by the Greek welcome for families and help with making your family trip one to remember for a lifetime. Get the inside track on Corfu, Crete, Rhodes and Evia, and why they all have a fantastic infrastructure for visiting UK families looking for fun, azure seas, blue and white cottages, crescents of golden sand beneath lofty bare grey mountains, delicious and simple cuisine, culture and interesting trips out. Watch cricket on the green in Corfu, visit the site of the famous kidnap of a German general led by British officers in Crete, or climb Mount Smith in Rhodes. From petting zoos and aquariums through fairground rides and expanses to run wild to remote villas and peaceful hideaways, and fortresses, secret picnic spots and wildlife walks, taste the Greek lifestyle tailored to you. According to the Greek Tourism Ministry, islands like Mykonos, Santorini, Rhodes and Crete attracted almost 1 million North American tourists in the summer of 2007. The European Travel Commission also reports an increase in travel to European destinations; they estimate that for 2006, Europe could receive more American travelers than the record 13.12 million set in 2000. US arrivals in Europe climbed to 12.6 million in 2005 -- up 4%.

Author Biography

Born and raised in Pwllheli on the Ley Peninsula, Jos Simon ventured into the world beyond Snowdonia as an LSE student in mid-60s swinging London. Having married a Greek, he embarked on a teaching career in various parts of the UK, his life enriched by Greek in-laws, Greek food and Greek holidays. early retirement brought new challenges as a freelance travel writer, specialising (of course) in stories about Greece. As a result of continued frequent Hellenic touring, with children then alone, the with grandchildren, writing bout Greece for UK magazines, and researching this book, he has come to feel like an honorary Greek.
