Author Biography

Maureen Gilmer is a landscape designer, a successful writer, a public speaker, and an educator. The author of ten books for gardeners, she has appeared on the Discovery Channel's "Home Matters" and HGTV's "Willard Scott's Home and Garden Almanac," as well as several other television and radio shows. She cohosts the PBS series "Backyard Living" with Michael Glassman. Gilmer's articles and columns appear regularly in major newspapers and in such magazines as Better Homes and Gardens, Fine Gardening, and Country Living. She is the creator and owner of gardenforum.com, a gardening website. Gilmer also owns Professional Landscape Design, a firm that specializes in commercial and residential landscaping. She lives in Dobbins, California. Michael Glassman has designed hundreds of landscapes from coast to coast. Glassman is an award-winning landscape designer and owns a design and consultation firm in Northern California. He cohosts the PBS series "Backyard Living" with Maureen Gilmer. Glassman studied landscape architecture and horticulture at the University of California and at La Napoule Art Foundation in France. He lectures at the University of California and at Sacramento Learning Exchange.
