Sie sind daher stark von den Auflösungstendenzen der traditionellen Vollbeschäftigungsgesellschaft betroffen. Das Buch beschreibt zunächst die sozialen, ökonomischen und politischen Wandlungsprozesse und analysiert anschließend die Auswirkungen auf die Gewerkschaften ebenso wie deren Reaktionen. Die Gewerkschaften - so lässt sich zeigen - sind politikfähig. Weitere riskante Anpassungsstrategien sind jedoch notwendig, um den Wandel bestehen zu können.
