Summary

Global Issues, Third Edition is an introduction to many of the most important environmental, economic, social, and political concerns of modern life. The book covers a range of perspectives on a variety of societies, both developed and developing. Author John L. Seitz writes clearly and stresses the need for informed, critical thinking. The text is extensively illustrated with diagrams and photographs; contains guides to further reading, media, and internet resources; and includes suggestions for discussing and studying the material. This new edition has been fully updated throughout and features new sections on foreign aid and development assistance, terrorism, the relationship between geography and wealth and poverty, food and the overweight, and the Millennium Development Goals. The section on climate change has been expanded, and for the first time a glossary is included. This unified perspective is ideal for introductory courses in departments of geography, politics, sociology, and environmental science. Previous editions have been used around the world and have been translated into several languages including Chinese, Japanese and Portuguese.
