Author Biography

Tim Newark is widely published in the field of military history. He became editor of Military Illustrated magazine in 1993, and has acted as consultant for television documentary series including Heroes & Weapons of WW2 screened by The History Channel and BBC Worldwide. His most notable publication, Camouflage (2007), was written to accompany the imperial War Museum Exhibition.

Matthew Bennett is a senior lecturer at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst. He has written many academic articles on chivalric and crusader warfare, and his publications include The Cambridge Atlas of Warfare: The Middle Ages 786-1487.

Dr. Doyne Dawson studied ancient history at Princeton and military history at West Point. He is professor of international affairs at Sejong University, Seoul, Korea, and has written key works on the origins of warfare.

Ron Field was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship in 1982 and was associate editor of the Confederate Historical Society of Great Britain from 1983 to 1992. He was elected a Fellow of the Company of Military Historians, based in Washington DC, in 2005, and his publications on the American Civil War are highly regarded.

Philip Haythornwaite is an internationally respected author and historical consultant specializing in the military history, uniforms, and equipment of the 18th and 19th centuries. The Napoleonic Period is his main area of research, and he has published over 40 military titles.

Mike Loades is a military historian and historical weapons expert who has presented dozens of television documentaries for companies including The History Channel. He is currently writing a major work on swords and swordsmen.
