Duffy gives us a brief history of each restaurant's existence and comments on their best known dishes. Each of the thirty restaurants has provided signature recipes to entice and excite Hoosier palates. Besides the thirty iconic restaurants, Duffy also includes chapters on comfort food restaurants (distinctive inexpensive fast food), well known steak houses, ethnic restaurants, and a list of new restaurants which the author believes are destined to hold up over the years.
