Summary

InIndiana's Best Restaurantsnoted TV personality and columnist Reid Duffy showcases thirty Indiana restaurants which have stood the test of time. All of the restaurants highlighted in this book have been in existence for twenty-five years or more, in some cases for several generations. The book offers a gastronomic Who's Who of the Hoosier State from Phil Smidt's restaurant in Hammond and Tippecanoe Place in South Bend to well-known Indianapolis restaurants such as Acapulco Joe's and Shapiro's to Chez Jean on the outskirts of Indianapolis on down to the Red Geranium in the southernmost part of the state. Duffy gives us a brief history of each restaurant's existence and comments on their best known dishes. Each of the thirty restaurants has provided signature recipes to entice and excite Hoosier palates. Besides the thirty iconic restaurants, Duffy also includes chapters on comfort food restaurants (distinctive inexpensive fast food), well known steak houses, ethnic restaurants, and a list of new restaurants which the author believes are destined to hold up over the years.
