Summary

The GDP of the United Arab Emirate's (UAE) economy is reported to have grown 35% in 2006, making it one of the fastest growing economies in the world. This has attracted unprecedented levels of foreign investment, which has resulted in efforts to bring its IP laws into line with internationalstandards. In many cases, however, these laws are very difficult to obtain, much less understand, for most Western attorneys, given that they written in Arabic, and English translations and practice commentary are likewise almost non-existent. This book covers the IP laws and practice in the UnitedArab Emirates. In addition to providing side-by-side translations of the laws in question, Intellectual Property: The Law and Practice of the United Arab Emirates provides practice commentary to give an understanding of history and context to allow a legal advisor to appreciate the "weight" of aproblem and to devise the best possible strategic solutions.
