Summary

Woodbridge illuminates the process by which a great university campus was envisioned and its buildings brought into being by architect John Galen Howard. Howard trained at MIT and the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, and worked in Los Angeles and NYC before coming to Berkeley to realize the goals of the international competition for the UC campus design.

Author Biography

Among Sally B. Woodbridge's books are Bernard Maybeck: Visionary Architect (1992), San Francisco Architecture (1992), Details: The Architect's Art (1991), and Bay Area Houses (1988). In 1993 Woodbridge received national honors from the American Institute of Architects for her work as a writer and historian.
