Author Biography

Denny Mckeown has been in the nursery business for thirty-eight years, twenty-nine of them with Natorp's, where he retired as Vice-President of Marketing. In January 1992, McKeown started The Bloomin' Garden Centre, a year-round retail garden sales business. Denny McKeown Landscape is a full-service landscape division featuring design and installation for residential and commercial properties. In 1990, the author received The Jack Schneider Award, from the Garden Centers of America, a division of the American Nursery and Landscape Association-it is the highest award given to anyone in the retail nursery business. In 1992, The American Nursery and Landscape Association presented McKeown with The Garden Communicators Award, which is given to the person who has done the most to promote gardening and planting across America. The author has been involved in radio broadcasting for 20 years. His syndicated gardening radio show is heard throughout Ohio and Kentucky, every Saturday from 6 AM to 9 AM and Sundays from 9 AM till noon. The author has served as President of The Garden Centers of America and has created a complete set of seasonal gardening videos. Previous works include Denny McKeown's Complete Guide to Midwest Gardening, a book now in its fifth printing. The author's first book for Cool Springs Press, The Gardening Book for Ohio, was released in early 2000 and is in its second printing. The Kentucky Gardener's Guide is the author's newest book for Cool Springs Press.
