In origami, a flat piece of paper is folded to create a dimensional object. Similarly, in traditional Japanese kirigami, paper is folded, cut, and unfolded to reveal complex patterns--like a paper snowflake. Author Biography

Born and raised in Japan, HIROSHI HAYAKAWA moved to the United States in 1991 to attend the Columbus College of Art and Design. After earning BFAs in Photography and Fine Arts, he received his MFA in Photography at Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan. Today, he teaches drawing and mixed-media photography.
