Summary

The discovery of an ancient letter.

And the trip to a family’s past marked by betrayal.

1924
Aurora and Cristina laugh with complicity and dream in the garden of a majestic Indian-style house. They belong to different worlds, but they are not yet aware of it. In the universe of games and secrets they share, they can’t imagine that their friendship will end abruptly due to a betrayal that will mark their future.

1992
Isabel's life begins to unravel after the loss of Aurora, her mother, with whom she had a special bond. As she collects her belongings, she finds an old forgotten letter in the attic in which she discovers the true identity of her father. Isabel must undertake a journey to the past of her family in search of answers to be able to reconnect with her roots and reconcile with her mother. On that trip she’ll discover a secret that she never imagined: a great loss and a great love.

Nuria Quintana displays boldness and style in her debut novel with the soul of a classic. A precious and emotional story, the plot delves into the secrets of a family and those that are relegated to oblivion. Love, friendship, betrayal, origins are diluted in a book full of nuances regarding the light and the darkness of human beings. Amazing and original.

“I sigh as I take the last sip of coffee. My gaze wanders through the window. I know Luis could help me and that he knows some of the answers I need right now. Luis worked with Mom for several years. I'm sure if something happened in that house, he knows it. [...] I know how difficult it will be to get him to express his feelings, to tell me what happened with that man, why he knows him or why he has been so reluctant to visit the house. Luis is not exactly a person who opens up easily [...].”
