This young adult novel grabs our attention through a combination of romance and science. Laila Fortuny, a recent high school graduate, wishes to continue her studies. However, her parents have both lost their job, which forces her to get a job as a waitress at the restaurant of the European Center for Nuclear Research. There she meets Brian, a doctoral student who has worked in New Mexico with military projects. He offers to show her the facility and teach her the secrets behind quantum physics. She is fascinated by this young scientist who seems to be unaware of his charm. Although serving food to hundreds of researchers was not in her plan, Laila finds herself having the most exciting summer of her life in which she will discover that science can be sexy and that love is the most powerful energy of the universe.
