When Reverend Josiah Crawley, the impoverished curate of Hogglestock, is accused of theft it causes a public scandal, sending shockwaves through the world of Barsetshire. With its sensitive portrayal of the proud and self-destructive figure of Crawley, this final volume is the darkest and most complex of the Barsetshire novels.

Author Biography

Anthony Trollope (1815-1882) was a prolific and popular novelist who also maintained a successful career as a civil servant in the post office. His Barsetshire novels are regarded by many as his masterpiece, and feature a gallery of recurring and memorable characters.
