Summary

The Maisons Jaoul are two adjacent homes in Neuillly-sur-Seine, a suburb of Paris, France. The homes were designed by Le Corbusier and built in 195456 for Andreacute; Jaoul and his son Michel. The buildings are among the most important of Le Corbusier's post-war work. Le Corbusier and the Maisons Jaoul examines the architect's very close relationship with the Jaoul family. This book is the only in-depth look at these homes and includes letters, as well as unusual gems like beautiful renderings, sketches, plans, and drawings, and Le Corbusier's lesser known paintings. Also included are interviews with draughtsmen, craftsmen, and members of the Jaoul family. The book takes a well rounded look at this project, including the history, context, and descriptive stories of the personalities involved. The book is a beautiful compilation of everything that went into a very famous project.
