Summary

This book considers ways in which midwives can assist families to embark on a healthy grieving process. Subjects such as miscarriage, termination for fetal abnormality, prenatal and neonatal loss are all comprehensively discussed. It is a revised edition of a book published by Blackwell Scientific in 1994 (rights reverted to author). The revised edition will also include a new chapter on the death of the mother in childbirth. Key features: Author has almost 40 years experience of midwifery practice and has published widely on childbearing and midwifery (including Men and Maternity, Routledge, published at the end of March); Accessible and easy-to-read, assuming no prior experience of loss and bereavement - the first edition was well used by midwifery students.
