Excerpts

The book answers the questions of all visitors to Madagascar; whether holidaymakers or serious naturalists. Madagascar may lie a mere 400 kilometres off the coast of Africa, but it is separated from it by millions of years of evolution: nature's private sanctuary. In compiling this book we have selected only the most interesting, appealing or beautiful animals, generally limiting our choice to those easily seen by visitors. And to help in the choice of places to visit, an introductory chapter describes the most accessible reserves and the key species likely to be seen there.
