Author Biography

Professor Nikos Hatziargyriou, National Technical University of Athens, Greece
Professor Hatziargyriou became Executive Vice-Chairman and Deputy CEO of the Power Public Corporation of Greece in 2007. He is responsible for the Transmission and Distribution Divisions, island DNO and the Center of Testing, Research and Prototyping. He is also Vice-chair of PPC Renewables. He is currently also a part-time professor in the Power Division of the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of NTUA. In 1995 he taught Power System Analysis and Renewable Energy Sources as a full professor. He is Director of the Postgraduate Programme on "Energy Production and Management", chairman of the Senate Committee of "Energy and Environmental Management of NTUA" and Vice-Director of ICCS (the Institute of Communication and Computer Systems) of NTUA.
Professor Hatziargyriou is a member of the "Energy Committee" of the Academy of Athens, a member of CIGRE, Convener of SCC6, Fellow Member of IEEE, Chair of the Power System Dynamic Performance Committee, and member of the Advisory Council of the Technology Platform on Future Power Systems (SmartGrids). He has authored two books and more than 250 scientific publications in international magazines and conference proceedings, and has participated in more than 60 R&D Projects, in many as scientific coordinator.
