Works of art and buildings inherently imply movement. Not only is the action represented in an image or the dynamic unfolding of a motif of movement in architecture implied, but also the behavior of the viewer before a work of art. The present volume devotes itself to various facets of movement in the fine arts, as well as to its emotional impact—in paintings and photographs, as well as genres of film and performance, which include a temporal dimension. In these interdisciplinary essays, dealing with diverse media and epochs, the phenomenon of movement is requestioned using current theoretical approaches. The text is in English, French, and German.
