Author Biography

John A. Welgelt is Chief, Division of Trauma and Critical Care Surgery, and Professor of Surgery, Medical College of Wisconsin, and Director, Clinical Quality and Outcomes, Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA. He received his M.D. from Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA. Dr. Weigelt is a nationally recognized expert on surgical infections and outcomes in trauma patients. He is past chairman of the Committee on Trauma of the American College of Surgeons and is Currently a memeber of several other professional societies, such as the American Surgical Society and the Surgical Infection Society. Dr. Weight is the recipient of numerous awards for teaching medical students and residents, including the 2004 Teacher of the Year Award from Medical College of Wisconsin and the 2002 Outsanding Teacher Award from the Association for Surgical Education. He is also Medical Director of SESAP, the CME program sponsored by the American College of Surgeons. The editor of more than 100 journal publications and 38 book chapters, Dr. Weigelt is Editor of the first edition of MRSA.
