Oriundo Laredo recorrió unas mil o dos mil veces, con toda paciencia y sin barullo, de Palomas a Ojinaga y de Canutillo a Presidio. Del este al oeste y viceversa, por toda la frontera norte de México. Y más: por esa misma frontera, pero del otro lado, también acumuló incontables millas.
Sin sonar la duela, como la sombra de un caballo perdido, como una nube solitaria en la entraña del extenso manto. Oriundo Laredo es un mexicoamericano. Pariente, por lo tanto, tuyo y mío, y también fruto de la Sierra Madre y de las Grandes Llanuras, donde apaches, blancos, morenos, tornados, chaparrales, bisontes y chamizos conforman un país-de-en-medio.
