Summary

While the emphasis of the book is directed toward applications in life and health sciences, the author purposefully chose many examples that would be accessible and understandable to any science student, including those in the physical and environmental sciences. The subject matter in the book requires no "prerequisite" knowledge beyond four years of high school math and science. Therefore, it is possible to use this book in classes with freshmen and sophomores, however it may be best used in classes that are predominantly college juniors and seniors. The text is appropriate at four-year colleges and universities, especially those that offer graduate programs as well as at small liberal arts colleges that place a strong emphasis on student learning. This text is also appropriate for introductory statistics courses at Medical, Dental, and Osteopathy Schools. Possible course titles: Introductory StatisticsIntoduction to Applied StatisticsBiometry or BiostatisticsIntroduction to Research Methods
