Summary

This anthology, which follows the highly successful Oxford Poets anthologies of 2000 and 2001, introduces a number of new poets who are just beginning to make their names and also provides in-depth access to the ongoing work of some established writers. Incorporating a wide range of very distinct voices, the collection celebrates the rich diversity of the existing Oxford list (now an imprint of Carcanet Press in association with the English Faculty of the University of Oxford) while showcasing the very best of the new work submitted to the Oxford Board over the last twelve months. The editors have made their selection based on merit alone and the work printed here cannot be said to represent particular poetic principles. The poets are widely separated from one another by age and background and especially by their technical and thematic choices but all seven are writers well worth watching. First collections that have followed from previous Oxford anthologies include those of Rebecca Elson and Joe Sheerin. Book jacket.
