Summary

A transnational collection of pandemic poetry and paintings that, among other things, compares India to Scotland. Bashabi was struck by the lines of villagers going home at the start of lockdown which reminded her of the lines of refugees during the Partition period of India's history. We have all experienced a partition this year.

Author Biography

Dr Bashabi Fraser CBE is an award-winning poet, Professor Emerita of English and Creative Writing, Director of the Scottish Centre for Tagore Studies (ScoTs), Editor-in-Chief at 'Gitangali and Beyond', Honorary Fellow for the Centre for South Asian Studies at the University of Edinburgh and declared an 'Outstanding Woman of Scotland' by the Saltire Society in 2015. Vibha Pankaj is an Edinburgh artist. Born in India, she has lived in Scotland for over 20 years. Her art reflects the landscapes from the Himalayas to the Highlands from her childhood to the present

Vibha Pankaj is an Edinburgh artist. Born in India, she has lived in Scotland for over 20 years. Her art reflects the landscapes of her feelings and memories - both real and imagined - from her childhood to the present - from the Himalayas to Highland hills - to celebrate the everlasting benevolence of nature. These are colour oil paintings full of texture.
