Author Biography

Virginia Hamilton was the first Black to win the Newbery Medal. She has also been awarded the Coretta Scott King Award, the National Book Award, and the Hans Christian Andersen Award.<br><br>Leo and Diane Dillon have won the Caldecott Medal twice.
