Summary

A perfect follow-up for those who have read Motorbook's How To Fabricate Sheet Metalor for anyone who possesses a rudimentary understanding of sheet metal fabrication techniques, this is a book that gets into the process in detail and depth. Author Tim Barton, both an expert sheet metal fabricator and a respected writer on the subject, offers instructions that take readers beyond the basics to a real mastery of this art. He includes clear directions for using power and pneumatic hammers, the English wheel, Eckold machines, Pullmax machines and more. Among the specific skills he describes are hand forming techniques, buck building, punching louvers, edge finishing, and more. Readers will learn how to form door seams, make fenders, hoods and other body parts. They'll also learn how to put various finishes on metal, like engine turning, metal chasing and laser processing. For the beginner who wishes to challenge himself and the apprentice who wants to master his craft, this expert overview of sheet metal fabrication is as clear, comprehensive, and practical as any workshop tutorial offered by a pro.
