Summary

With universal agreement that corruption is a major impediment to the social and economic well-being of many nations, there arises a legal, political and moral challenge to identify and understand how integrity is nurtured and maintained. This book arises from a research project, initiated by Transparency International (TI), that maps, evaluates and analyses the integrity systems in Australia to stimulate comparative work and to allow different jurisdictions to assess the adequacy of their own integrity systems. The volume argues that integrity and corruption are conceptually linked 'opposites' and integrity systems could well be the most powerful tools for dealing with corruption.
