Summary

Psoriasis is a chronic, inflammatory, non-contagious skin disease. Characterized by itchy, thick, raised, red areas of skin covered with silvery-white scales, psoriasis affects one in fifty adults, making it one of the world's most common skin disorders. It can appear at any age and can affect one's relationships, ability to work and ability to enjoy leisure activities.

Author Biography

Dr. Richard G.B. Langley, MD, FRCPC, is a Professor of Dermatology and Director of Research at Dalhousie University. An international expert on psoriasis and skin cancer, he has co-authored ten books and numerous articles and abstracts. He lives in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
