Race to the Moonrise is the delightful story of two engaging children living in what is now northern Mexico around 1200 A.D.; Little Basket is a young girl with special powers and Long Legs is her strong, brave, and protective brother. They must travel from their home all the way to the home of the people of the Far North (in an area now known as Chimney Rock, in present-day Colorado). While following the adventures of these two children, we learn about many of the early civilizations and cultures. This book was approved for use with Native American children by the Intertribal Cultural Committee of the Council for Indian Education.
