Summary

The first book to cover the graffiti scene in Japan and featuring specially created photos, Rackgaki is a must-have for graphic designers, graffiti and street art fans and those interested in contemporary Asian art.Dedicated to the rackgaki (graffiti) scene, Rackgaki showcases the creativity within this new and relatively unexplored form of contemporary Japanese art and illustrates the work of the major artists or writers working in Japan today. Interviews plus the authors' own experiences fill out a picture of an art form at the edge and often at odds with police and civic authorities. The DVD included provides 35 minutes of voice-over and trip-hop soundtrack--a full immersion into the subculture that is Japanese graffiti.
