Summary

The third edition is designed to take advantage of splendid recent cases that provide excellent pedagogical experiences for students. These opinions will allow for a particularly beneficial integration of problems directly related to the opinions, but dealing with latent and other issues that the court did not have opportunities to address. The third edition will have substantially more cases and fewer problems, because the kinds of opinions now available provide much greater accessibility to a comprehensive understanding of the interpretation and construction of the UCC and related statutes. The second edition featured a problem approach with only isolated, edited cases. The third edition will display a balance between cases and problems that are less dense. Cases selected for their high pedagogical value will take center stage in the third edition. While the problems will be fewer in number, they will provide a greater sense of interest, depth and relevancy to the student. New and original text material will also be introduced in the third edition with the single purpose of facilitating genuine understanding of concepts rather than memorization. The second edition continued to include rather complete references to Amended Article 2. In light of the reaction to the amended version, the third edition will refer only to isolated aspects of that version where it may assist student understanding of the current law and recent developments. Coverage of CISG will continue, but that coverage will appear separately to allow the professor to decide how that material should be introduced and the extent to which it should be part of a given course. The accompanying teacher?s manual will be more extensive and will include suggestions for coverage of the material in courses allowing two as well as three credits. The co-authors will also make objective and essay examination materials available to users of the third edition
