Summary

Stickers, with over 2500 images of stickers and 8 pages of original sticker art, is a visual encyclopedia of sticker art. Most books on stickers only focus on street/graffiti art, but this book focuses on multiple genres including music, fine art, skateboarding, and political stickers. And unlike other books of this kind, Stickers includes eight pages of actual stickers created by artists who are influential in the sticker art world It begins with introductions by the author DB Burkeman, artist Shepard Fairey, and critic Carlo McCormick. The book is then broken down into categories such as music, zeitgeist (including contemporary and fine art), skateboarding, brands, street art, graffiti/tags, handmade, political, and unconventional/non-traditional (including temporary tattoos and wheat-pastes). To give each category context, each section begins with a text by influential writers or artists including Clayton Patterson, Cheryl Dunn, Moby, and Jonathan Levine to name a few, aiming to make Stickers a visual overview of the sticker, from a historical, technical, and social perspective. At the end of the book there will be 8 pages of stickers, some original works, by artists such as Ryan McGinness, Maya Hayak, José Parlá, Kenny Scharf, Surface 2 Air, and Haze.
