Author Biography

Jack Hansen is semi-retired from a career of research and research leadership. After receiving a Bachelors degree from Stanford University and a Doctor of Science degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, he conducted and supervised research in fluid dynamics and related areas at the Naval Research Laboratory. He then served as the Director of the Applied Research Division of the Office of Naval Research, Associate Director of the Penn State Applied Research Laboratory, Deputy Center Director for Research of the NASA Ames Research Center, and Associate Director of the Florida Institute for Human and Machine Cognition. He is the author of over seventy scholarly papers on research and research policy. He and his wife Pat reside in Greenville, South Carolina. They have one grown daughter and two grandchildren.
