Author Biography

Ian Thom is a Senior Curator-Historical at the Vancouver Art Gallery. Involved in Canadian art museums for more than thirty years, he has also held senior curatorial positions at the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria and the McMichael Canadian Art Collection. In addition, he has organized more than one hundred exhibitions and written numerous articles and authored or co-authored many books, including Robert Davidson: Eagle of the Dawn; Andy Warhol: Images; Gordon Smith: The Act of Painting; Art BC; E.J. Hughes; Takao Tanabe; B.C. Binning; Emily Carr: New Perspectives on a Canadian Icon and Challenging Traditions: Contemporary First Nations Art of the Northwest Coast. He lives in Vancouver, BC. Grant Arnold is Audain Curator of British Columbia Art at the Vancouver Art Gallery. Over the past twenty years he has contributed more than thirty exhibitions of historical, modern and contemporary art, including Mark Lewis: Modern Time; Fred Herzog: Vancouver Photographs; 75 Years of Collecting-The Road to Utopia; Real Pictures: Photographs from the Collection of Claudia Beck and Andrew Gruft; Rodney Graham: A Little Thought. He has written, taught and lectured extensively. He lives in Vancouver, BC.
