Author Biography

M. V. Nadkarni is an economist and a visiting professor at the Institute for Social and Economic Change. He is a former vice-chancellor at Gulbarga University and former chairman of the editorial board of the Indian Journal of Agricultural Economics. He is the author of 17 published books. R. S. Deshpande is the director of the Institute for Social and Economic Change in Bangalore, India. He is also a former professor and the head of the Agricultural Development and Rural Transformation Center at the institute and the coauthor of Agrarian Crisis and Farmer Suicides and Glimpses of Indian Agriculture.
