Summary

The Spear and Shield is a bilingual, 34 page, children's picture book. There is a village where lived many traders who sought wealth and fame. One of the traders is Pilly, and he sold weapons. He claims that his spears and his shields are the best in the land, and he claims that he speaks the truth. Can he be trusted? This book is written in both English and Chinese. It is based on a famous Chinese idiom created into a story. This book is the first of a series of books, almost all based on other well-known Chinese idioms.

Author Biography

San Wei Chan is an award winning animator and a graduate of The California Institute of the Arts. Currently, he is an animator and senior character artist working for the studios in Hollywood. He is also a professor for the Beijing film Academy.

Dany Chan is the young author of this book, and additional books in this series. His writing career began when he scripted an animated short, which aired in China in 1999. He has since been Chief Editor on an animated Series expected to air in 2005. Currently, Dany is a high school student.
