Author Biography

Dave Russell is a scholar of the history of English popular culture. He is the author of the Encyclopedia of British Football, the award-winning Football and the English, and Looking North: England and the National Imagination. Stephen Wagg is a professor of sport and society. He is the author of The Football World; the coeditor of Amateurism and British Sport, British Football and Social Change, and East Plays West; and the editor of British Football and Social Exclusion, Cricket and National Identity in the Postcolonial Age, Giving the Game Away, and Key Concepts in Sports Studies.
