Summary

In Start with a Sketch, illustrator Kate Bingaman-Burt shares her approach to sketching and other image-making techniques with the goal of developing and sharing creative self-expression—your unique pursuits, points of view, and personal stories.
  • Sketch and share right from the start. Get an overview of materials and tools, guidelines for basic image production and publication reproduction, a discussion of ideas and starters, and a gallery of examples of super-simple publications that can be created from a single sheet of paper.
  • Discover a wealth of potential creative options through a range of storytelling categories—collections, activism, obsessions, biographies, and more—including an overview of each, starter prompts, and inspirational galleries of zines and other self-publications. Each chapter also features a different illustration style/approach (along with tips for successful reproduction) and publication formats (exploring different sizes and page counts).
Let every sketch help you find and tell your unique stories with Start with a Sketch
