Author Biography

Thomas Godfrey McCluskie, born in Belfast, Northern Ireland in 1950, is the son of a 5th generation shipyard worker. He joined Harland and Wolff as a message boy in 1964, became an apprentice fitter in 1965, and in 1971 moved into the Naval Drawing Office. In 1980 he was appointed an Administrator, overseeing all the operations of the Drawing Office and by 1986 was Administrative Manager and Archive Manager, a post which carried special responsibilities, promoting the company's history and developing associated businesses. In April 1997 he was made an honourary member of the Titanic Historical Society of America. Tom is also a Governor of the National Lifeboat Institute and a member of the Institute of Marine Engineers. Tom was HandW Technical Liaison to 20th Century Fox in the production of the James Cameron film Titanic. Michael Sharpe was born in 1970 into a forces background and developed a fascination for flying and military history at an early age. Since working as an editor in the newspaper and military book publishing industry, he has worked on numerous publications and articles on military and civil aviation, transport and military history, for both domestic and foreign clients. He lives and writes in London. Leo is a retired air traffic controller, is a prolific writer and expert on aviation and maritime affairs. Born in the naval port of Plymouth (U.K.), in 1944, he grew up amongst the comings and goings of the great warships. Leo is married and has two sons.
