Summary

The 'Orla tractate is the penultimate order of the one which deals with agricultural problems. It describes the commandment, stipulated in Leviticus 19:23-25, that no one is allowed to eat the fruit of a tree less than three years old in Israel. This fruit is compared to a foreskin ('Orla) and is regarded as not circumcised. In the fourth year, the fruit is to be eaten in Jerusalem, and it is not until the fifth year that the fruit can be eaten everywhere. All the problems involved with this are discussed
