Author Biography

Joel Grossman, a Los Angeles native and full-time freelance writer since 1979, has written everything from hotel reviews and gardening articles to computer history and science stories. He has written about Santa Monica's Big Blue Bus, rattlesnakes, and Southern California's science and technology pioneers for the Los Angeles Times Magazine. An interest in photography—useful for illustrating magazine articles—led to Grossman also taking photos to help this book's illustrators.
