Author Biography

Mary Rose received her Bachelors and Masters degrees from Marshall University in Huntington, WV, and a Masters in Educational Leadership from the University of Central Florida. She has been a classroom teacher for 37 years and is currently teaching fourth grade in Orange County Public Schools in Orlando, Florida. She is active in state and national assessment projects, including the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP - the "Nation's Report Card") and the New Standards Project. She has been trained as a scorer for the Florida State Writing Assessment and helped to write the reading portion of the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test. She presents at state and national conferences and is a national consultant on improving scores on writing assessments. Mary Rose is a contributor to Storyworks and Instructor magazines and is the author of eight books, all published by Scholastic.
