Unermüdlich ist er dabei, kleine Beiträge, Rezensionen und Kommentare zu verfassen, die von seinem Bemühen zeugen, die Zeitschrift auf hohem Niveau zu halten. Dabei entstehen Aufsätze, die für das Verständnis des Popularphilosophen von großer Bedeutung sind, etwa die Fragmente von Beyträgen zum Gebrauch derer, die sie brauchen können oder wollen&lsa" (1778). Über die scharfe kritische Analyse Zergliederung des Buchs, genannt: Leben, Bemerkungen und Meynungen Johann Bunkels&lsa" (1778) gerät Wieland in eine heftige publizistische Auseinandersetzung mit Friedrich Nicolai. Unbeeinflusst von den publizistischen Anforderungen bleibt dabei auch das poetische Werk nicht: Die Verserzählung Schach Lolo&lsa" (1778) überführt die Debatte um seine politische Auffassung ins Medium des Lehrgedichts. Mit seinen märchenhaften Verserzählungen Der Vogelsang&lsa" (1778) und Pervonte&lsa" (1778-1779) bedient Wieland einmal mehr auf höchstem poetischen Niveau das Genre der heiteren Lehrdichtung.
