Summary

The classic reference on wilderness stewardship and protection, revised and fully updated. For thirty years the classic textbook WILDERNESS MANAGEMENT has presented the most complete and authoritative information available on wilderness stewardship and the protection of its resources and values. The seventeen chapters of the book provide the reader with a working knowledge of the history, legislation, policies, and practices of wilderness planning and stewardship in the United States carried out by the four federal agencies — Forest Service, National Park Service, Bureau of Land Management, and Fish and Wildlife Service— entrusted with the protection and stewardship of the more than 107 million acre National Wilderness Preservation System.
