Author Biography

Jerald G. Bachman is a Senior Research Investigator at the University of Michigan's Institute for Social Research. Marie Deyoung directs the Center for Women in Church and Society at Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas, where she facilitates leadership and academic programs. Jean Bethke Elshtain is the Laura Spelman Rockefeller Professor of Social and Political Ethics at The University of Chicago Lorry M. Fenner is a Lieutenant Colonel in the United State Air Force. She is currently a member of the National War College faculty at The National Defense University, Ft. McNair, Washington, D.C., where she teaches courses on Military History and Strategy Peter Freedman-Doan is a Research Associate at the University of Michigan's Institute for Social Research. Laura L. Miller is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the University of California, Los Angeles Brenda L. Moore is Associate Professor of Sociology at the State University of New York at Buffalo Patrick M. O'Malley is a Senior Research Investigator at the University of Michigan's Institute for Social Research William L. O'Neill is a professor of history at Rutgers University David R. Segal is Professor of Sociology, Distinguished Scholar-Teacher, and Director of the Center for Research on Military Organization at the University of Maryland. Mady Wechsler Segal is Professor of Sociology and Distinguished Scholar-Teacher at the University of Maryland, as well as a faculty affiliate of the Women's Studies Program and Associate Director of the Center for Research on Military Organization. Rita James Simon is University Professor in the School of Public Affairs and the Washington College of Law at American University Judith Hicks Stiehm is Professor of Political Science at Florida International University Schuyler C. Webb is a research psychologist and Commander in the United States Navy
