Author Biography

Arla Day is Professor and Canada Research Chair in Industrial/Organizational Psychology at Saint Mary's University, Canada. She is a founding member of both the CN Centre for Occupational Health and Safety and the Centre for Leadership Excellence. She currently co-chairs the Psychologically Healthy Workplace Award committee in Nova Scotia, which recognizes organizations for their commitment to the health and safety of their employees. She has been a visiting scholar at the University of Calgary and a research associate of the Canadian Forces Leadership Institute. She is active in several professional associations, and was on the executive committee of the Canadian Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology for over seven years.

E. Kevin Kelloway is the Canada Research Chair in Occupational Health Psychology and Professor of Psychology at Saint Mary’s University, Canada. He is a fellow of the Association for Psychological Science, the Canadian Psychological Association, and the Society for Industrial-Organizational Psychology.  In addition to serving on several editorial boards, he is associate editor of Work & Stress and section editor for Stress & Health. He has published over 100 articles, chapters and reports, and his authored and edited books include Management of Occupational Health and Safety, Fourth Edition (2007), Handbook of Work Stress (2005), and Flexible Work Arrangements (Wiley, 1998).

Joseph J. Hurrell, Jr., is currently Adjunct Professor of Psychology at St. Mary’s University, Canada, and an affiliate of the CN Centre for Occupational Health and Safety in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He is editor of the APA’s Journal of Occupational Health Psychology, of which he was a co-founder. Prior to his current appointments, he was affiliated with the United States’ National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), where he was a pioneer in the study of psychosocial factors in occupational health. He has authored over 100 articles and eight books, and is internationally recognized for his work.
