Summary

Author Biography

OLGA G. BAILEY is at the Institute of Cultural Analysis, Nottingham Trent University, UK. She has published essays on global audiences, environmentalism and journalistic practices, and the consumption of new technologies. Her latest publication with Dr. Harindranath is the chapter Racialized 'Other': the representation of asylum seekers in the news media. In: Stuart Allan. Journalism: critical issues.

MYRIA GEORGIOU is a Lecturer in International Communications at the Institute of Communication Studies, University of Leeds. Her research focuses on transnational communication, identity and community. Recent publications include: Crossing the Boundaries of the Ethnic Home: Media Consumption and Ethnic Identity Construction in the Public Space and Les Diasporas en Ligne: Une Expérience Concrète de Transnationalisme', Hommes & Migrations.

R. HARINDRANATH is Senior Lecturer in Media and Communications at the University of Melbourne, Australia. He co-authored The 'Crash' Controversy, and co-edited Approaches to Audiences. He has published essays on diverse topics such as audience research, 'race' and representation, social movements, and cultural imperialism.
